Bentley Mulsanne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Confession.\u00a0 The most frightened I have ever been in any vehicle was in a Mercedes Benz S65 AMG, going in a straight line, no less.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been in faster cars, I&#8217;ve been in more dangerous situations in which I had no control whatsoever, but the sheer raw power of that twelve cylinder bi-turbo beast shattered my preconceived notions and offered a lesson in respect that I will never forget.\u00a0 To be strapped into what looks like an aggressively sporty limousine and then pressed into the seat like a rocket ship pilot upon takeoff was not just <em>more than I expected<\/em>.\u00a0 It simply didn&#8217;t make sense.\u00a0 It didn&#8217;t register in my mind that it was even possible to move so much metal so quickly with an internal combustible engine.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, I get it.\u00a0 AMG builds fast, nimble Mercedes Benz automobiles, but this thing was huge!\u00a0 And it shot off the line like a dragster!\u00a0 How does one make sense of that?\u00a0 That said, it was also one of the most exhilarating experiences I can remember, and it rekindled the love for Mercedes Benz (and AMG) that I had in the 1980s when I first discovered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=amg+hammer&amp;hl=en&amp;safe=off&amp;client=firefox-a&amp;hs=W8R&amp;tbo=d&amp;rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=isch&amp;sa=X&amp;ei=cRTdUKCcGuTB2wWe4IC4Dg&amp;ved=0CAoQ_AUoAA&amp;biw=1920&amp;bih=941\" target=\"_blank\">AMG Hammer <\/a>and the MB powered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=isdera+imperator&amp;hl=en&amp;safe=off&amp;client=firefox-a&amp;hs=gT7&amp;tbo=d&amp;rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=isch&amp;sa=X&amp;ei=kxTdUIbSBKnE2gX1wYDwCQ&amp;ved=0CAoQ_AUoAA&amp;biw=1920&amp;bih=941\" target=\"_blank\">Isdera Imperator 108i<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I was a Bentley fan in the &#8217;80s too, but they never built anything like this.\u00a0 The Bentley Mulsanne is nothing less than a palace on wheels, with enough power under the bonnet to move all three tons of its mass from a dead stop to sixty miles per hour in less time than it takes to read this sentence. \u00a0 Go ahead.\u00a0 Read it again quickly.\u00a0 The Mulsanne is already doing sixty.\u00a0 It&#8217;s doing a hundred by now.\u00a0 Just give up.\u00a0 This fancy tank will keep accelerating all the way to 184 mph (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/reviews\/2012-bentley-mulsanne-first-drive-review\" target=\"_blank\">maybe faster<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>As far as I can tell, the biggest problem with the Mulsanne is deciding whether to slide into the driver&#8217;s seat and light up the tires or lounge in the back while your chauffeur does the driving.<\/p>\n<p>But now for the really difficult question.\u00a0 Which one do you take home?\u00a0 Both offer lounge-like comfort and luxury, supercar performance, and a price tag that would fetch you a nice home in a gated neighborhood.\u00a0 On second thought, that&#8217;s a silly question.\u00a0 Odds are good that if you can afford one of these cars, you can afford both of them.<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/youtu.be\/4PckC81-a0w<\/p>\n<a class=\"addthis_button\" href=\"http:\/\/addthis.com\/bookmark.php?v=250\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/s7.addthis.com\/static\/btn\/v2\/lg-share-en.gif\" width=\"125\" height=\"16\" alt=\"Bookmark and Share\" style=\"border:0\"\/><\/a><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/s7.addthis.com\/js\/250\/addthis_widget.js\"><\/script>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Confession.\u00a0 The most frightened I have ever been in any vehicle was in a Mercedes Benz S65 AMG, going in a straight line, no less.&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"more-link-wrapper\"><a class=\"more-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.darelparker.com\/dp\/mercedes-benz-s65-amg-vs-bentley-mulsanne\/\">Continue reading<span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Mercedes Benz S65 AMG Vs.
